A new species of Sage-Grouse,first recognized as distinct from the Greater Sage-Grouse in 2000, these are becoming very rare birds,and in Utah it is though that only 100 or so still exist. They are listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN),and are on the Red List. UPDATE: They have just been listed on the Endangered Species Act by the USFWS,which will require full federal protection,and a recovery plan to be implemented.
