Description

Small, deciduous tree, often multi-stemmed with drooping foliage. Bark dark, rough and vertically fissured. Leaves imparipinnate with 3-7 pairs of leaflets plus a terminal leaflet; leaflets lanceolate with an asymmetric base, up to 7 cm; midrib and lateral veins yellowish and conspicuous; margin entire or irregularly scalloped. Flowers in striking, pendulous, terminal sprays, blue to deep mauve. Fruit a flat narrow pod up to 7 cm, straw-coloured to grey-black when ripe.
