It is native to Cerrado, Piauí, Minas Gerais, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Caatinga, Distrito Federal, São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Caatinga, Maranhao, Amazônia, Cerrado, Mato Grosso do Sul, Piauí, Amazônia, Tocantins, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia, Goiás, Bahia, Ceará, Pantanal, Maranhao, Mato Grosso, Tocantins, São Paulo, Pantanal, Mata Atlântica, and Cerrado. Pterodon emarginatus has compound, broad leaves. It fixes nitrogen. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 7.5 m.
