Desmodium barbatum (Zarzabacoa Peluda) is a species of shrub in the family legumes. They have a procumbent growth form. They are native to Cerrado, Roraima, SãO Paulo, Ceará, Puerto Rico, Rio De Janeiro, Amazônia, Espirito Santo, Mato Grosso, Maranhao, RondôNia, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Rio Grande Do Norte, Distrito Federal, Caatinga, Sergipe, Santa Catarina, GoiáS, Tocantins, Paraná, Acre (Brazil), Piauí, Rio Grande Do Sul, Bahia, Mata Atlântica, Pará, Amapá, ParaíBa, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pantanal, and Pampa. They have compound, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Augochloropsis vesta. Individuals can grow to 0.25 m.
