Sporangia broadly cylindric or elongateovate, lilaceous-brown, 2.5-5 mm. tall, occurring in small, loose clusters; stalk short, 0.1-0.5 mm. tall, continued into the slender columella; capillitium a network of slender, flexuous, brown threads, the ultimate branchlets united to form a delicate surface net over the lower half or two-thirds of the sporangium; spores lilacbrown in mass, pale lilac by transmitted light, warted and faintly and often incompletely banded-reticulate, 5-7 p. in diameter; Plasmodium waterywhite.
Type locality: Eastern United States. Habitat: Dead wood.
