They are native to Mata Atlântica, RondôNia, Cerrado, Roraima, Pampa, Piauí, ParaíBa, Caatinga, Hawaii, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, GoiáS, Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, Amazônia, Pantanal, Distrito Federal, Acre (Brazil), Pernambuco, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Paraná, Rio Grande Do Sul, SãO Paulo, Bahia, Santa Catarina, The Contiguous United States, Rio De Janeiro, and Mato Grosso. They have simple leaves. Individuals can grow to 10 cm. They have alternation of generations.
