Berberis thunbergii (Japanese Barberry) is a species of shrub in the family Berberidaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Japan. They have simple, broad leaves and yellow flowers. Flowers are visited by null, Yellowbanded bumble bee, sweat bees, and European honey bee. Individuals can grow to 6 feet.
