Rhododendron maximum (Great Laurel) is a species of tree in the family Ericaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Eastern North America, The Contiguous United States, Canada, United States, and North America. They have simple, broad leaves, red flowers, and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Hummingbird Clearwing, Two-spotted Bumblebee, and Yellow-banded Bumblebee. Individuals can grow to 12 m.
