Nyssa sylvatica is a species of tree in the family Nyssaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to United States, Eastern North America, The Contiguous United States, Canada, and North America. They have simple, broad leaves, green flowers, and drupes. Flowers are visited by Microcrambus elegans, Colletes thoracicus, and digger bees. Individuals can grow to 95 feet.
