Calluna vulgaris (Heather, Ling) is a species of shrub in the family Ericaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Ukraine, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Italy, Romania, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Ireland, Belgium, Sweden, Morocco, Norway, Hungary, Moldova, Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Belarus, France, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Albania, and Spain. They have simple, scale leaf leaves. Flowers are visited by Anthophora furcata, Green-veined White, bumblebee hoverfly, and essex skipper. Individuals can grow to 0.42 m.
