They are native to The Contiguous United States, Canada, North America, United States, and Eastern North America. They have simple, broad leaves and yellow flowers. Flowers are visited by Eugnoriste occidentalis, Sarcophaga sinuata, Bibio femoratus, and Cheilosia hoodiana. Individuals can grow to 32 m.
