Celastrus scandens (American Bittersweet) is a species of shrub in the family Celastraceae. They are climbers. They are native to The Contiguous United States and Canada. They have simple, broad leaves, white flowers, and loculicidal capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Pterochilus, Leskiomima, Sarcophaga sinuata, and Euthera tentatrix. Individuals can grow to 15 feet.
