A shrub or small tree, 2-5 m. tall ; leaflets 1-5, lance-elliptic to oval or obovate, 3.517.5 cm. long, 2-9.4 cm. broad, refuse at the apex, cuneate or somewhat rounded at the base, entire, coriaceous, pellucid-punctate; racemes 1.5-3.5 dm. long; pedicels 7-13 mm. long ; petals ovate or oblong-ovate, 3.5-4 mm. long, 2-2.5 mm. broad, acute ; filaments subulate; anthers ovate; follicle 8-11 mm. long, 6-S mm. broad, dark-brown or blackish; seeds glabrous, 5.5-9 mm. long, black.
Type locality : In high mountains, Montserrat.
Distribution : Cuba, Porto Rico, Vieques, St. John, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, and Martinique.
