Parapolystichum effusum effusum (False Shieldfern) is a subspecies of perennial herb in the family wood ferns. They are native to Mato Grosso Do Sul, Puerto Rico, Santa Catarina, Amazônia, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande Do Sul, Ceará, Acre (Brazil), SãO Paulo, Maranhao, Paraná, Mato Grosso, Rio De Janeiro, Espirito Santo, Pará, and Mata Atlântica. They have alternation of generations.
