Attributed to the fauna of Australia by Garrard (1972:311), in this followed by a number of modern authors. This species however is a part of the South African fauna only, as was illustrated and corrected by Herbert (2013), a vision here supported. The type locality ("China Seas" fide type material) was corrected in that same publication to Agulhas Bank, South Africa, and here adapted accordingly.
