Diagnosis: straight mouth opening; minute, sometimes almost imperceptible, barbel at either side of mouth; last unbranched dorsal fin ray heavily ossified and inflexible; pelvic fin inserts below middle of dorsal fin; 30-31 scales in lateral line (Ref. 81639).Description: body depth 25.0-37.5% SL; head length 20.2-26.4% SL; no papillae around mouth but usually with round keratinized tubercles on snout; D: III,9-10; A: III,5; scale formula: 4.5-5.5/30-31/-; 2.5-3.5; 12; 3.5 scales from lateral line to anal fin origin (Ref. 81639). Coloration: alcohol-preserved specimens are uniformly light brown (Ref. 81639).
