Distribution

provided by EOL authors

Amphisamythaspecies were only known from the Pacific Ocean but the genus' range was recently extended to the hydrothermal vents of the Atlantic Ocean. The molecular study by Stiller et al. (2013) showed that a species previously assigned to a different genus (Amathys) from Atlantic hydrothermal vents is a member ofAmphisamytha.
