Arcella mitrata Leidy, 1876 has a balloon-shaped or polyhedral test with a height that exceeds diameter of base. The walls are rounded or pimpled, the aperture is circular, crenulated and usually everted within inverted funnel. The cell body is spheroidal with an extension to the aperture and cytoplasmic strands to the test. Typically with six or more slender lobopodia. F rom fresh water among vegetation, Sphagnum and Utricularia.
