Description of Proplagiopyxis

provided by BioPedia
Shell intermediate between Centropyxis and Plagiopyxis but with very little slant towards aperture. Pseudostome eccentric, circular, no invagination. One species: Proplagiopyxis nuda Schûnborn, 1964 Shell brown, half spherical in shape, slight slope to the aperture in side view, xenosomes lacking or rare. Differs from Centropyxis (e.g. C. plagiostoma) by lack of invagination and border of mineral particles around aperture. Habitat: soil. RefThis genus is placed in the Centropyxidae and not the Plagiopyxidae due to its circular aperture.
