Sonchus oleraceus (Common Sowthistle) is a species of annual herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Asia, Caatinga, Africa, Mata Atlântica, Cerrado, and Europe. They have simple, broad leaves and achenes. Flowers are visited by Honey bee, Marsh Hoverfly, drone fly, and Syritta pipiens. Individuals can grow to 0.79 m.
