Dryopteris expansa (Spreading Woodfern) is a species of perennial herb in the family wood ferns. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Greenland, Western North America, Canada, United States, The Contiguous United States, and Alaska. They have compound, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.53 m. They have alternation of generations.
