Hyphaene thebaica is a unique palm, its trunk is split. It is mainly an east African species, reaching its northern border in South Israel, where it is known only in 2 sites. In this pic u can see the trees in the South Arava Valley, the mountains on the back are Edom mountains of S Jordan.
