Gossypium (Cotton) is a genus of tree in the family mallows. They are native to Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands, The Contiguous United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. They have loculicidal capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by sweat bees, Oxacis, Thrinchostoma petersi, and Cloudless Sulphur.
