Miconia calvescens is a species of shrub in the family melastomes. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Minas Gerais, Mexico, Brazil, GoiáS, Amazônia, Guatemala, Cerrado, Mata Atlântica, Paraná, Pará, Alagoas, Ecuador, Distrito Federal, Belize, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Pernambuco, Bolivia, Panama, Bahia, Honduras, Colombia, Nicaragua, Mato Grosso, Costa Rica, Rio De Janeiro, Acre (Brazil), Sergipe, Paraguay, Espirito Santo, SãO Paulo, Peru, Ceará, RondôNia, Argentina, and Santa Catarina. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 8 m.
