They are native to Tocantins, Pará, Rio De Janeiro, Mata Atlântica, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Espirito Santo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande Do Norte, Alagoas, Pantanal, Roraima, Caatinga, SãO Paulo, Amazônia, Piauí, The Contiguous United States, Pernambuco, Maranhao, RondôNia, Distrito Federal, Sergipe, Mato Grosso, Puerto Rico, Paraná, Hawaii, Cerrado, Rio Grande Do Sul, Amapá, Minas Gerais, Acre (Brazil), Ceará, ParaíBa, Bahia, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, GoiáS, and U.S. Virgin Islands. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 2.7 m.
