Leaf-blades oblong-oval, ovate, or ovate-lanceolate, mostly 2.5-14 cm. long, rounded and emarginate and usually mucronate at the apex, reticulate, usually glabrous or nearly so, rounded or cordate at the base, short-petioled ; peduncles and pedicels sparingly pubescent, or glabrous at maturity ; sepals ovate to suborbicular, 3-4 mm. long, the glands one half the length of the sepal-body or less ; larger petals 10-13 mm. long ; samaras 1.5-2 cm. long, the ventral edge of the wing produced into a triangular-ovate auricle at the base.
Type locality : Santo Domingo.
Distribution : Cuba, Hispaniola, Porto Rico, and the Lesser Antilles.

Leaf-blades ovate to oblong, 1.5-7 cm. long, rounded and notched, and usually mucronate at the apex, sparingly pubescent above, usually closely pubescent beneath, truncate or subcordate at the base, short-petioled ; peduncles and pedicels permanently closely pubescent; sepals oval or oval-ovate, 3.5-4.5 mm. long, the glands one half the length of the sepal-body or more ; larger petals 12-16 mm. long ; samaras 2-2.5 cm. long, the ventral edge of the wing produced into a rounded spreading auricle at the base.
Type locality : America. Distribution : Jamaica.
