小型花鱸，不具經濟性之魚種。偶以延繩釣或一支釣等捕獲，產量極為稀少。可食用。
描述

體長橢圓形，側扁而略高，標準體長為體高之2.8-3.2倍。頭背部略為弧形；眶間區略凹。眼稍大，長於或等於吻長。口大；下頜前端具小犬齒。鰓耙數7-10+13-17，隨成長而漸退化。前鰓蓋骨下緣無前向棘。體被細小櫛鱗，主上頜骨及頤部皆具鱗；側線完整，側線鱗孔數33-36，側線上鱗列數3。背鰭鰭棘部與軟條部相連，具缺刻，具硬棘X，軟條14-16(多為15)，第IV或V棘最長；臀鰭硬棘III枚，軟條7；腹鰭腹位，末端延伸及肛門開口；胸鰭延長，中央之鰭條長於上下方之鰭條，鰭條15，部份鰭條有分支；尾鰭內凹形，上葉延長呈絲狀，其餘各鰭之外側鰭條亦有延長呈絲狀之現象。體背側為淡橘紅色，腹部淡色。體側具二條暗紅色橫班：一條在體中部，延伸至背鰭上；另一條在尾柄上。尾基上緣另具一暗紅色小班。
棲地

主要棲息於較深水域的岩礁區或砂石區。底棲性。內食性，以小型魚類及甲殼類為食。
