Pterioidea is a superfamily of mussels. There are 100 species of Pterioidea, in 20 genera and 6 families. This superfamily has been around since the darriwilian age. It includes groups like Cassianellidae, Pterineidae, and Pulvinitidae. Dead Pterioidea form shallow marine sediments. They have sexual reproduction. They are sessile animals.
