Strix virgata (Mottled Owl) is a species of birds in the family typical owls. They are listed in cites appendix ii. They are solitary, nocturnal carnivores. They have parental care (paternal care and female provides care). They rely on flight and gliding to move around.

Definition: Appendix II lists species that are not necessarily now threatened with extinction but that may become so unless trade is closely controlled.
