This rare and endangered plant is endemic to the Wai'anae mountains of western Oahu. By 2010, the USFWS reported 137 mature plants in 18 populations (http://ecos.fws.gov/docs/five_year_review/doc3799.pdf). Note large shrub in photo. Shrubs usually reach 1.5-3m in height, occasionally as high as 6m.
