Symphyotrichum puniceum (Purplestem Aster) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asteraceae. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is native to the contiguous United States, Canada, Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, eastern north america, North America, and the Americas. Purplestem Aster has simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Red Admiral. Purplestem Aster is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 2.5 m.
