Symphyotrichum dumosum (Rice Button Aster) is a species of shrub in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Canada, The Contiguous United States, and The Americas. They have simple, broad leaves and achenes. Flowers are visited by Common Eastern Bumblebee, Cassius Blue, Halictus poeyi, and Honey bee. Individuals can grow to 0.34 m.
