found this rodent lying dead at the edge of the surf line. No idea of cause of death or what species it might be. It was the size of a large rat.

Headed back up north from the Lower Rio Grande Valley and a staff meeting with the other urban wildlife biologists. Stopped at this rest stop to see some gophers and a large tree. :)

Headed back up north after a really nice meeting in the Lower Rio Grande Valley with the other urban biologists. Several birders spoke of this rest stop in Falfurrias, so I thought I'd stop by. Didn't see the painted redstart, but I did see some neat other things. :) It's a really nice rest stop.
