A member of the spinosa group with the following combination of characters: 1) vomerine dentition present, 2) bones green in life, 3) anterior half of parietal peritoneum is white, 4) dorsal color is dark green in life, 5) rostral is subovoid when viewed dorsally and truncated when viewed laterally, 6) dorsal skin finely granulated, 7) tarsal and ulnar folds absent, 8) humeral spine absent Adults attain a medium size; males reach 22.7-24.4mm SVL; head slightly wider than body (head width is 32.5-36.9% SVL). Diameter of eyes are 38.5-41.0% head length; tympanum is 33.3-47.8% diameter of the eye. Length of tibia is 56.6-61.0% SVL; when hind limbs are adpressed anteriorly and front limbs adpressed posteriorly the knees overlap with the elbows.

Known from the western side of the Cordillera Occidental of Colombia in the departments of Antioquia and Risaralda between 800 and 2060m elevation.The Type locality is at the department of Risaralda, county of Pueblo Rico, road to `La Selva' (Repetidora TV), western slope of the Cordillera Occidental, 5° 11´ latitude N, 76° 6´ W of Greenwich, 1700-2060 m
