Naked jakobids, trophic cells uninucleate, ventral groove extending the length of the cell; a prominent cytoplasmic lip defining the right side of the ventral groove. With one or two mitochondria with flattened cristae; single golgi body; structured extrusomes present; asexual reproduction by binary fission; cysts and sexual reproduction unknown.
