Test: transparent, roundish oval in broad view; constructed of secreted, quadratic or rectangular, calcite plates in rows, sheet-like cement. Vesicular nucleus. Feeding: herbivore. Habitat: calcareous substrates like freshwater, mosses and soil. Type species: Paraquadrula irregularis (Archer, 1877)
