They are native to GoiáS, Mata Atlântica, Roraima, U.S. Virgin Islands, Mato Grosso, The Neotropics, Maranhao, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Paraná, Amapá, Santa Catarina, Caatinga, Puerto Rico, Distrito Federal, Pampa, Cerrado, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Alagoas, Tocantins, Piauí, Rio Grande Do Norte, The Contiguous United States, Espirito Santo, SãO Paulo, Acre (Brazil), ParaíBa, Pará, Pernambuco, Amazônia, Ceará, Rio De Janeiro, Sergipe, RondôNia, Pantanal, and Rio Grande Do Sul. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.24 m.
