Dolichovespula maculata (Bald Faced Hornet) is a species of Hymenoptera in the family Vespidae. They visit flowers of calico aster, carpenter's square, hyssopleaf thoroughwort, and blue giant hyssop. They are diurnal. Individuals can grow to 19 mm.
