General Description

provided by Cybertruffle
On Potato Sucrose Agar (PSA). Colonies. After 4 days growth varies from 5.35-5.65 cm diameter, with a mean ñ SD = 5.52 ñ 0.15; aerial mycelium white to pale orange to dull violet with light orange to dull lilac pigmentation. On Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA). Colonies. After 10 days growth varies from 8.75-9.5 cm length, with a mean ñ SD = 9.02 ñ 0.42; aerial mycelium white to pale orange to dull violet with pigmentation orange to dull violet; mycelium producing some but not many "chlamydospores", in chains, appearing after up to two months of incubation. Conidia. Of two types; macroconidia slender, falcate, thin walled, 30-55 × 2.5-4 μm, 3- to 5-septate, each with a bent or pointed apical cell and foot-shaped basal cell; microconidia abundant, long-oval to obovoid, clavate or pyriform, 5-15 × 1.5-2.5 μm, 0- to 1-septate, formed in false heads and short chains on mono- and polyphialidic conidiogenous cells. Teleomorph. Not known. Notes. This species grows on Glycerol Nitrate Agar (G25N) with a growth rate less than 2 cm diam., producing yellowish white aerial mycelium and yellow pigmentation; growth on mannitol sucrose medium results in reddish white aerial mycelium and red or reddish brown pigmentation; growth on Czapek-Dox Iprodione Dichloran Agar (CZID) more than 5 cm diam. with white or pinkish aerial mycelium and pastel red or reddish grey pigmentation.
