Jordan's Swallowtail

Papilio jordani, the Jordan's swallowtail, is a vulnerable species of butterfly in the family Papilionidae. It is endemic to northern Sulawesi in Indonesia.

Etymology

It was named to honour German entomologist Karl Jordan.

Deskrpsi

Deskripsi pertama adalah pada tahun 1906 oleh Fruhstorfer. Bentang sayap sekitar 13 - 15 cm. Kupu-kupu ini merupakan anggota dari keluarga Papilionidae. Papilio Jordani hitam. Sebuah rantai bintik-bintik putih mendominasi sayap belakang.^[1]

Papilio jordani is een vlinder uit de familie van de pages (Papilionidae).^[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1906 door Hans Fruhstorfer.

Kenmerken

De spanwijdte van het mannetje bedraagt 7,5 cm, die van het vrouwtje 8,5 cm. Het mannetje heeft zwartgekleurde vleugels met een rij witte stippen, terwijl het vrouwtje een wit met zwarte kleurtekening heeft.

Verspreiding en leefgebied

Deze uiterst zeldzame vlindersoort is endemisch op het Minahase-schiereiland in noordelijk Celebes in Indonesië.
