Maximum longevity: 13.4 years (captivity)
Observations: Although there are unverified reports of animals living up to 15 years (David Macdonald 1985), the record longevity in captivity is 13.4 years (Richard Weigl 2005). Considering the longevity of similar species, however, maximum longevity may be underestimated.
