Part of the inflorescence of Jatropha subaequiloba with one female flower. All the buds will be male flowers. In this species (endemic to the Mozambique coast) female flowers open first, thus promoting outcrossing. It belongs to the subsection Capenses and probably is crossable with Jatropha curcas. Interesting js J. subaequiloba's resistance to the flea beetle (Aphtona spp.), the most important insect pest of the biodiesel-producing plant.
