Description

Shrub or small tree, up to 4 m tall. Bark brownish-grey; branchlets covered with pale whitish to yellowish hairy scales. Leaves alternate, elliptic to lanceolate, up to 9.5 cm long cm, yellowish-green above with a rough surface of sparse stellate hairs, densely covered in white to yellowish hairy scales below, with two small glands next to the petiole; margin entire. Flowers in short terminal spikes, unisexual, usually on the same tree, pale yellowish-green, c. 4 mm in diameter. Fruit a 3-lobed capsule, c. 6 mm in diameter, covered in greyish to yellowish scales and often with scattered black dots.
