Carex aquatilis is a species of perennial grass in the family sedges. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Canada, Saint-Pierre Et Miquelon, Greenland, Western North America, United States, North America, The Contiguous United States, and Alaska. They have simple, broad leaves and green flowers. Individuals can grow to 2.9 feet.
