2011-10-26 Lower Austria, district Neunkirchen - mixed forest (670 msm Quadrant 8362/4).Pinus nigra is not native to this habitat (and neither is Picea abies), and Pinus sylvestris only would grow here in small numbers (as it is less competitive here than e. g. beech): this should be a beech forest by habitat, and there are indeed a few beeches present.

2011-11-01 Styria, district Hartberg - Joglland, Hundsmhlbach (690 msm Quadrant 8562/1).Mixed forest: spruce obviously has been introduced (but could also be native to the habitat - only not in such numbers as it occurs here), originally this should be a ravine forest where fir and beech are native.Of course there are also some other trees to be seen here, or (mostly) their leaves: Alnus glutinosa, Corylus avellana, Ulmus glabra, but here for a change only very few Acer pseudoplatanus (of which there are plenty further up and down the stream).
