M and F 24 mm. Tibiotarsal articulation reaches at least the eye. Hands with rudimentary webbing, foot webbing 1(1), 2i(1.5), 2e(1), 3i(2), 3e(1.5), 4i/e(3), 5(1). Dorsal skin smooth. Colouration chocolate brown with two greenish dorsolateral bands. Males with distinct and well-delimited femoral glands. Similar species: Other species of the subgenus Pandanusicola differ by the diameter of tympanum or colouration. M. liber has larger hands and feet.Taken with permission from Glaw and Vences (2007).

An arboreal frog that is only found in pristine forest associate with screw pines (Pandanus). The eggs are laid in leaf axils (often of Pandanus) where the larvae develop (Raxworthy and Nussbaum 2008).Calls: Unknown.

This species occurs in Parc National d'Andohahela and Parc National de Marojejy, and probably also in other protected areas. Its taxonomy needs revision (Raxworthy and Nussbaum 2008).
