Image of Virginia strawberry

Description:
Under a higher magnification of 236x, this scanning electron micrograph (SEM) depicted a detailed view of the clustered exterior of a commonly growing wild strawberry, Fragaria virginiana, that was found growing in Lullwater Park, inside the Decatur, Georgia suburbs. The F. virginiana fruiting bodies are very similar to the more familiar store-bought varieties, and those who've tasted these fruits say that they're quite delicious.
