Description:
This species is endemic to the island of Hawai'i. This species was recently added to the Endangered Species list (Oct., 2013). Elevation of this plant is around 3220ft/982m. The site where this plant was found receives around 240 inches of rain per year. This is the only species of Phyllostegia known to have a maroon/red corolla. Note hirsute calyx and villous corolla.
