Description: Compassman at work in the field. Western pine beetle control. Forest Service staff compasses were used. Compass lines were run through the sections at intervals of 10 chains. A spotter accompanied the compassman on each side. Infested trees were marked and spots were located on 4-inch scale section plots by compassman.
