At first glance it looked like a jumble of newspaper, but upon further inspection he discovered it was 34 live red-cheeked mud turtles from Southern Mexico. Despite numerous layers of newspaper and packaging tape, several had begun to claw their way out. All USFWS Wildlife Inspectors stopped what they were doing to assist in unwrapping them and making sure they were healthy, humid and comfortable. The UPS staff was helpful in giving their time and assistance, and lent resources to make logistic arrangements for the disposition of the turtles. We’re happy to report that all of the ‪#‎turtles‬ survived and were sent home to Mexico!. Date: 4 December 2013, 02:28. Source: 6 holding. Author: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Southeast Region.
